In haar lezing bij Pennings Foundation zal Pauline Terreehorst ingaan op het begrip Tijd, zoals dat wordt gebruikt in fotografie, film en video-installaties. Zowel de positie van een maker als die van een toeschouwer komen daarbij aan bod. Wanneer is er sprake van een betekenisvolle ervaring? Ze zal hierbij ingaan op werk waarover ze eerder schreef, zoals van Johan van der Keuken, Raymond Depardon en Koen Wessing. Maar ook op dat van filmer/kunstenaar Steve McQueen.

Pauline Terreehorst is filmtheoreticus. Ze werkte als universitair docent, journalist, adviseur en bestuurder. Ze was onder meer directeur van het Centraal Museum Utrecht en theaterdirecteur in Natlab in Eindhoven, waar ze verschillende exposities en presentaties met fotografie en videokunst organiseerde en de samenhang met film heeft benadrukt. Ze heeft gepubliceerd over film, fotografie, nieuwe media, mode en stedelijk leven, onder meer in de Volkskrant. Haar laatste boek is ‘Het geheim van de Gucci-koffer. Hoe de adel uit Midden-Europa verdween.’ Onlangs schreef ze inleidingen bij het werk van Jan van IJken (Planktonium) en Norbert van Onna (Portraits of a building).

In her lecture at Pennings Foundation, Pauline Terreehorst will discuss the concept of Time, as it is used in photography, film and video installations. Both the position of a maker and that of a spectator are discussed. When is there a meaningful experience? She will discuss work she wrote about before, such as on Johan van der Keuken, Raymond Depardon and Koen Wessing. But also on that of filmmaker/artist Steve McQueen.

Pauline Terreehorst is a film theorist. She worked as a university lecturer, journalist, consultant and administrator. She was, among other things, director of the Centraal Museum Utrecht and theater director at Natlab, where she organized various exhibitions and presentations with photography and video art and emphasized the connection with film. She has published on film, photography, new media, fashion and urban life, including in de Volkskrant. Her latest book is ‘Het geheim van de Gucci-koffer. Hoe de adel uit Midden-Europa verdween’ (The Secret of the Gucci Suitcase. How the nobility disappeared from Central Europe.) She recently wrote introductions to the work of Jan van IJken (Planktonium) and Norbert van Onna (Portraits of a building).
