De Eindhovense fotograaf Ruud Balk is misschien wel het meest bekend van de serie ‘Eindhoven, stad van contrasten’, waarvan hij regelmatig nieuwe foto’s op Facebook plaatst.

Die contrasten uiten zich meestal in de combinatie van oude bouwwerken en nieuwe architectuur. Met deze architectuurfoto’s belicht hij op een bijzondere manier de stad Eindhoven.

De lezing is speciaal gepland tijdens de expositie Warm Woensel West bij Pennings Foundation, waar fotograaf Kees Martens een overzicht schetst van dertig jaar stadsvernieuwing in de wijk Woensel West in Eindhoven.

Ruud Balk (1956) is freelance fotograaf, gevestigd in Eindhoven. Hij maakt portretten, veelal van musici en kunstenaars, fotografeert designexposities en maakt architectuurfoto’s. Hij werkt(e) o.a. voor Muziekgebouw Frits Philips, philharmonie zuidnederland, de Kazerne, Piet Hein Eek, gemeente Eindhoven, diverse bouwbedrijven en architectenbureaus, Expat Spouses Initiative en Springplank 040. Hij was een van de initiatiefnemers van de boeken ‘Eindhoven365’ (2007) en ‘Eindhoven365 Volume 2: Eindhoven Ongekend’ (2008).

Ruud Balk tells about his series ‘Eindhoven, city of contrasts’. 

The Eindhoven photographer Ruud Balk is perhaps best known for the series 'Eindhoven, city of contrasts', of which he regularly posts new photos on Facebook.

These contrasts are usually expressed in the combination of old buildings and new architecture. With these architectural photos, he shows the city of Eindhoven in a special way.

The lecture was specially planned during the Warm Woensel West exhibition at Pennings Foundation, where photographer Kees Martens sketches an overview of thirty years of urban renewal in the Woensel West district in Eindhoven.

Ruud Balk (1956) is a freelance photographer based in Eindhoven. He makes portraits, mostly of musicians and artists, photographs design exhibitions and photographs architecture. He has worked for, among others, Muziekgebouw Frits Philips, philharmonie zuidnederland, de Kazerne, Piet Hein Eek, municipality of Eindhoven, various construction companies and architectural firms, Expat Spouses Initiative and Springplank 040. He was one of the initiators of the books 'Eindhoven365' (2007 ) and 'Eindhoven365 Volume 2: Eindhoven Unknown' (2008).
